“Have you ever noticed that happiness is not a dependency, it is a decision? You don’t actually need anything to be happy. It’s not something that comes from outside, it comes from inside, and when you radiate a happy energy you’ll be amazed what it attracts into your life. Don’t worry, be happy…sound familiar? Decide now, be happy, and watch magic begin to enter your life.”—Innerspace (via likethesun) (via happythings)
so today in refuge christian club board meeting, the president did an interesting bible study.it was about suffering and obstacles in life.
we always want to improve and we (most christians anyway) pray to God that they can be more like God, that they can strive for that perfection and be the best person they can be. well. if we pray these things, how can we not expect to have hard times? by asking God to refine us and to make us more like Him, then we are basically asking for him to give us trials.
trials and difficulties in life are a way for us to step it up. they allow us to test our morals, to test our true characters.
these sufferings in life give us wisdom. even if we have the knowledge, it takes wisdom to actually apply that knowledge in real life situations.
basically, trials help us grow. no matter how tough or how hopeless it seems sometimes. if we aren’t suffering, then our characters arent being tested. then life wouldnt be as interesting or even worth living.
would you really like to live in a world where you dont work for anything? where all you do is sit around and relax? sure it might be fun at the beginning, but when it comes down to it, you’re probably going to be bored out of your mind.
anyways. this long random tangent really comes down to a simple thought. a new outlook.
try not to think of the hard times in your life as punishment, or that theres no solution to it. just realize that theres a reason that youre suffering. that you can learn something new about yourself or discipline yourself through that suffering.
